ou can always count on the legends of entertainment to come through for the people, at some point. The Boss Hogg, Slim Thug has done just that, claiming to have bought his hood in Houston. If this is real, it’s big, but not unprecedented. Earlier this year, actor Wendell Pierce invested $20 million of his own dollars into a housing project in Baltimore, home to The Wire, in which he played playboy detective Bunk Moreland. In September, former NBA star Alonzo Mourning cut the ribbon on the Courtside Apartments in the Overtown section of Miami, an affordable housing initiative he headed.
Nevertheless, Thugga is putting his money where his mouth is. Hopefully, everything works out and more well-to-do folks follow suit and make life better for their own who are less fortunate.
