TINA TURNER TO RECEIVE GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Rock and roll icon Tina Turner will be honored at the 2018 Grammy Awards and receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for her exceptional career in music. The Recording Academy’s National Trustees presents the award to performers who, “during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.” The Queen of Rock received her first Grammy back in 1971 at the 14th Grammy Awards, for her rendition of “Proud Mary” with Ike Turner, taking home the award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Group. She has since earned seven other Grammy wins among her 25 nominations.

Turner will also receive the Lifetime Achievement Award alongside other music legends QueenNeil DiamondHal Blaine, Emmylou HarrisLouis Jordan, and The Meters. According the Recording Academy, a special award presentation ceremony and concert celebrating the Special Merit Awards honorees will be held in summer 2018.

These exceptionally inspiring figures are being honored as legendary performers, creative architects and technical visionaries. Their outstanding accomplishments and passion for their craft have created a timeless legacy.”

Check out the Grammy Awards airing on CBS on January 28 at 7:30 pm, which includes performances by, Childish Gambino, Lady Gaga, Alessia Cara, Khalid and Logic, Little Big Town, Patti LuPone, P!nk, Ben Platt, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Kesha, Bruno Mars withCardi B, and SZA.
