Hailing from Texas, is J’Moris. Being drawn to as a young boy, he began his official journey at the age of 17—when he released his first single, “Play On.” During his college venture at Lamar University, Moris co-founded the organization Tru Misfitz. Continuing to maneuver more into the music industry, Moris found his southern influence played a heavy part in what he does.
You can hear his southern style on the track “Dope Life.” It’s a smooth track to ride out to, giving off Texas-type rhythm—in the midst of lyrics that show off Moris’ delivery. A few of Moris’ influences include: UGK, Chamillionaire, and Scarface.
In the context of the song, Moris speaks on keeping his faith in God, but how the vice of drugs has kept him in somewhat of a balanced life; it’s the dope life he details. Moris is a student to the game. He’s taken what he’s heard in music and found a way for it to fit into his own flow.
While there are many artists you can take and put next to Moris for comparison. The Hillsboro, TX artist promises to bring flare of his own—that’ll separate him from the herd. FeaturingSunny BoBo, check out the visuals for “Dope Life” below.
