The life of Aaron Hernandez is a complete tragedy. He was a gifted athlete that by all accounts threw it all away with a recklessness that bordered on some form of psychosis. His life became a wasteland of selfishness and destruction and the only ones that we should feel sympathy for are the families of victim Odin Lloyd, who he was convicted in 2015 for the 2013 murder as well as the families of Daniel de Abreu and  Safiro Furtado who Hernandez was accused and tried for killing in 2012, though actually acquitted of the double homicide on April 14, 2017. Sympathy for Hernandez’s 4 year old daughter, finance and family are also appropriate, but Hernandez himself is a largely unsympathetic figure.

Beside the sensationalism of hearing the news of the now complete rise and fall of a football star not named OJ, I suggest we all take an interest in the circumstances behind Aaron Hernandez’s death, not because you care about the man or feel empathy for him, but because as a society we have to continue to question the credibility by police and prison officials when they so consistently deliver implausible statement of facts to the public, that are almost never investigated by independent and outside agencies.
